It's up to Bailey and Bodhi to figure out what secrets Black Bay is hiding.

Book 0 was free. The suspense, twists and overall creepiness kept me reading late into the night. I was so glad that I had purchased book 1 ahead of time. The minute that I finished 0, I immediately started 1. I loved the characters. The storyline. I was hooked. Suspense, drama, comedy, thrills, chills. I threw myself into book one and before I knew it, it was 3 am. Yikes! I love this authors writing style. I came to the end of the book and the hairs stood up on my neck and arms. Not due to anything that the author had written. It was what she hadn't written. An ending. I was horrified that I had invested so many emotions, truly liked the characters and felt as though I had been swindled. Left in the middle of a story with no resolutions. Just questions. I felt like Bailey at the cliff side, only for me, there was no one there. Just me. Alone. Holding my Kindle. My mind filled with countless questions, that will go unanswered, because I despise this type of trickery by authors. I refuse to be forced to buy the next installment, just to find out what should have been included in the first place. Who's to say that the next book won't stop just as abruptly. No thanks. Not playing that underhanded game. Possibly until eternity. When this author can present a stand alone series, I would love to read it. Please be warned. These are great novellas. They will suck you in. Make you care about the characters, then leave you hanging, with resolutions mere pages away. Well worth the read. Just be prepared to be extremely frustrated with the non ending and possibly, like me, the author.Product details

The Haunting of Winchester Mansion Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Tia Rider Sorensen Alexandria Clarke DBS Publishing LLC Books Reviews
I have a love hate relationship with this book. I have a healthy admiration for the author of this book. She is awesomely talented. Her words are so alive and I can hardly put my book down...So the part I don't like is that to read the entire story you must buy at least 3 books. I love long complete stories. .. And that is my only complaint. It's a must read story of you like mysteries mixed with the paranormal.
This is the second book that I read to get the story. It also ends at the most dramatic part of the book. Don't believe I will ever pick up another book knowingly by this author. She is only interested in how to sale the next one instead of finishing a good story.
Dang, first part free. Pay for the second part of book one and now I guess there's another book to buy. It's been a good read so far. At times we are taken back in memories that we already know and at one point I was ready to just stop reading. I'm really not sure if I want to get the next book in case it's also not the ending.
It should actually get 4 stars because I enjoyed the last part enough not to put my down. However, the story leaves me with several questions. Having some knowledge of parapsychology, this haunting is simply over the top, more like a poltergeist than a ghost. But I liked the voice of the first-person narrator enough to persist even though I could not believe the ghost! Then, how is it possible that the local police did such a poor job twenty years ago, if a you woman could unravel this mystery in a fairly short time? (To say more would be a spoiler). The story has an open ending, so obviously one needs to read Book 2 to find out what happened "after". All in all, a light read, but the author has an easy writing style and the unlikely story draws you in if you persist ...
I was so enjoying this book. It kept my interest all the way through. I read it to the end in one evening. However, when I got all the way to the end I was so mad for the time I wasted on it. There is no ending. You will have to read the next book to see what happens next. Another author who wants you to read her next book to finish the story. Well this author just lost one of her readers. I will not read any more of her stories. They all may end or should I say not end like this one, forcing the reader to buy her next book. Otherwise I would have recommended this book. It could have been a 5 star.
Interesting story well written, but ending way too soon. At only 19 pages, it could easily and happily have included much more of the story. I really hate when an author leaves me hanging off a cliff but, since it was free as was the first short installment, I took a chance on them. I won't follow up with the remaining parts because I dislike rewarding writers for their marketing style.
*** LANGUAGE ***
Clean, plain English, suitable for all audiences young adult and older. If this were a film, it would probably be rated G for language, except, perhaps, for the hint of, shall we say, a romantic encounter in the opening scene.
Subsequent to this review, Book 2 came out and is a free download. Book 2 concludes the series. Hence, it does not have a cliffhanger ending and is well worth reading. Here is a link The Haunting Of Winchester Mansion Book 2
Just as is Book 0, this tale is told to us via first person point-of-view, giving it a sense of immediacy and intimacy. Indeed, the writing, again, is so engaging and flows so smoothly, I am convinced the author would have had a bestseller, save for one critical lapse...
A cliffhanger ending in Book 0 and, again, in Book 1. Alas, I fear too many readers will choose not to read this series based on this one mistake.
That's a shame, because, mark my words, this writer has a bright future. I am going to start following her just as soon as I post this review.
Bottom Line
I loved the risque opening and remained glued to the book. Appreciate the lack of profanities (limited to the word rhyming with dam, but was letdown by the cliffhanger ending, sas well as the need to read the (free) prequel.
Four stars out of five.
Comments regarding your opinion of this book or of my review, whether favorable or unfavorable, are always welcome. If you buy the book based on my review and become disappointed, especially, I do want to know that and I want to understand how I can improve as a book reviewer. Just please be polite.
Thank you.
